Established to honor exceptional talent in furniture and interior design, the SIT Furniture Design Award has announced the winners of its fourth edition. Designers who have masterfully balanced form and function, creating exceptional projects.
There are numerous awards globally, all aiming to identify the best innovations and trends that can make a significant impact in the design world. Despite being relatively new, the SIT Furniture Design Award has quickly established itself as a prestigious and authoritative presence. This is largely due to its meticulous selection of winners, clearly defined by the jury according to the event’s criteria and guidelines.
2024 SIT Furniture Design Award’s grand winners
Furniture design of the year: Poty Armchair by Studio Lucas Caramés
The Poty Armchair is inspired by the vibrant craft culture of the Delta Parnaíba, seamlessly blending contemporary comfort with traditional local elements. Built with a solid wooden frame, its standout feature is the carnauba straw weave that wraps around the chair, paying homage to the region’s artisanal heritage. This fusion of modern design and cultural tradition results in a visually striking and culturally rich piece, offering both physical and sensory comfort.
Interior design of the year: Daphne by Studio Paolo Ferrari
Located in Toronto, Daphne reinterprets the classic American bistro with a modern and eclectic flair. Custom-designed furniture and lighting enhance the space, which masterfully balances unexpected elements with the warmth of New England prep. Drawing inspiration from art, architecture, and cinema, Daphne embodies a cinematic duality, inviting guests to explore and delight in the experience of discovery.
Emerging furniture designer of the year: Otto Lounge Chair by Jenna Jang, Art Center College of Design
Addressing the evolving dynamics of workspaces post-pandemic, the Otto Lounge Chair is designed for adaptability in both home and office settings. Featuring refined cushions and oak wood, it provides comfort in any environment. Its versatile design allows it to serve as both a lounge chair and a workspace accessory, reflecting the changing needs of modern life.
